The Charleston Math & Science Riptide suffered their biggest loss since December 5, 2023 on Tuesday. They were the victim of a rough 61-38 defeat at the hands of Cross. While losing is never fun, Charleston Math & Science can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while Cross is ranked 78th).
Despite the loss, Charleston Math & Science still got an impressive performance from Dalailyn Reed, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Webb, who scored eight points.
Cross can attribute much of their success to Diamonique Nelson, who scored 14 points along with seven assists. Another player making a difference was Lauren Middleton, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Charleston Math & Science and nudges their season record down to 1-13. As for Cross, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
Charleston Math & Science will head out on the road to face off against Baptist Hill at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Cross, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. John's at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. St. John's will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
