Tatum (N.M.) trailed
Logan (N.M.) by 16 points at one time, but managed to come all the way back and secure a 28-24 victory on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a
Hayes Frost touchdown run, the Longhorns went into halftime with a 16-14 lead. The Coyotes scored the winning points with a
Seth Slover touchdown pass to
Lucas Buchanan that came in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring zero points in the third, Tatum still trailed by 2 points going into the fourth quarter. But 14 points in the fourth helped THS pull out the victory.
The Coyotes didn't take the lead for good until the the fourth quarter when Slover thew a touchdown to Buchanan.
Timmy Pearce stood out for Tatum in the win. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 24 touchdowns on the season.
Logan's Frost played well. The senior quarterback ran for two touchdowns. His performance brought his touchdown total to 10 on the year.
THS also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 18-8.
The defeat comes as a step back for Logan, which notched a 48-38 victory over Mountainair in its previous outing. With the win the Coyotes extended their winning streak to four games.
Tatum (9-1) goes up against Logan in a playoff game matchup next week, while Logan (8-4) locks horns with Tatum also in a playoff game.
