Ryan Gonzalez and Yampiel Chavez were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Gonzalez pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Chavez struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February. Forest Hill is undefeated when Chavez posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, Julian DeJesus was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Nick Seal, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Forest Hill hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Park Vista was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They fell just short of Wellington by a score of 2-1. The Cobras' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Aidan Hock was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Park Vista saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Dever, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Forest Hill's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Park Vista, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4.
Forest Hill came up short against Park Vista in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 6-1. Can Forest Hill avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
