Hoover is 0-10 against San Ysidro since February of 2018 but things could change on Monday. The Cardinals will welcome the Cougars at 4:00 p.m. Hoover is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.2 runs per game this season.
While Hoover's win against Guajome Park Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cardinals had just enough and edged out the Frogs 11-9. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cardinals.

Linda Chavez made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and six unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.
In other batting news, Yazmyne Rodriguez was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Bibianna Lopez, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.
Hoover lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, San Ysidro lost 13-3 to Fallbrook on Saturday. The game marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
San Ysidro saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabella Ulloa, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
San Ysidro's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Hoover, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hoover has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 10.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like San Ysidro struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Hoover suffered a grim 27-5 defeat to San Ysidro in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Cardinals have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
