3A/2A Conference 3 recap October 29, 2013
South Point added to the longest winning streak in 3A/2A Conference 3 this week by beating Lake Norman Charter, 55-0. The win marks 10th in a row for the the Red Raiders.
Ashbrook was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fifth to third in the league. The Green Wave vanquished Forestview 34-31 earlier in the week.
Moe Neal was the best wideout in the league this week as the Jaguars fell to Ashbrook. Neal tallied 11 receptions for 150 yards. CJ Bumgarner helped Forestview's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 32 yards.
Forestview's Logan Bradley and Mykelti Armstrong have formed a dream team this season, leading 3A/2A Conference 3 in both passing and receiving yards. 6-4 quarterback Bradley has thrown for 2,343 yards this season, while Armstrong has 68 catches for 861 yards. South Point's Tyler Bray leads the league in rushing yards with 1,326.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when North Gaston takes on Mickey Lineberger's team. The Wildcats are in fourth place, while the Red Raiders are in first place.
East Gaston moved up to 265 from 304 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Warriors climbed the ranks as a result of besting North Gaston 28-27.
