Winning is just a little bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 20% better than the opposition, a fact the Sterling Tigers proved on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 66-51 win over Eaton. The win made it back-to-back wins for Sterling.
Sterling found their leader in underclassman Dayten DiOrio, who scored 15 points along with seven assists and two steals. DiOrio is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Colin Linn was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Despite the defeat, Eaton had strong showings from Ely Madaleno, who scored 16 points along with four steals, and Lucas Stone, who scored 13 points along with two blocks. That's the first time this season that Madaleno scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Noah Sprinkle, who scored four points along with two steals.
Sterling pushed their record up to 7-3 with that win, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35.33 points. As for Eaton, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sterling will take on University at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully University focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday. As for Eaton, they will be playing at home against Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Valley is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
