Basketball Recap: Oak Forest Comes Up Short

Oak Forest's tournament run continued when they took on St. Thomas More Academy on Friday. The Oak Forest Warriors took a hard 62-47 fall against the St. Thomas More Academy Chancellors. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Warriors came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while the Chancellors are ranked 255th).

When it comes to explaining why Oak Forest lost, don't look at Tyler Woolard. Despite the final result, he went 9 of 13 on his way to 19 points along with six rebounds and five steals. With that strong performance, Woolard is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Hunter, who posted four points and five steals.

Oak Forest's loss dropped their record down to 14-4. As for St. Thomas More Academy, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Oak Forest won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Kerr-Vance Academy at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for St. Thomas More Academy, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll challenge Brunswick Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
