After only ten points in their last contest, Oglethorpe County made sure to put some points up on the board against Jasper County on Friday. Oglethorpe County walked away with a 35-28 victory over Jasper County.
Oglethorpe County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jake Turner led the charge by rushing for 215 yards and a touchdown. Turner hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games. Oglethorpe County also got help from Jordan Johnson who showed off his sure hands for 118 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Elbert County two weeks ago. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Athens Christian out of the water with a 42-0 final score. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Elbert County had established a 35 point advantage.
Their wins bumped Oglethorpe County to 4-6 and Elbert County to 8-2.
Oglethorpe County was dealt a bruising 64-0 defeat at the hands of Elbert County when the teams last played back in September of 2019. Can Oglethorpe County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
