After a string of nine wins, The Exeter Monarchs''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They and Reedley were almost perfectly matched up, but Exeter suffered an agonizing 22-21 loss. Exeter was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Reedley apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Several Monarchs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jacob Molina, who threw for 165 yards and two touchdowns. Niqo Calderon was another key contributor, gaining 64 total yards and two touchdowns.
Will Bacon looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 73 yards and a touchdown, while also picking up 37 receiving yards. Reedley also got a significant boost from Demetrius Vargas, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 127 yards.
Exeter's defeat dropped their record down to 9-1. As for Reedley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 3-7 record this season.
Exeter will be playing at home against Highland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Highland is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Reedley, they will head out on the road to face off against Delano at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
