After a string of five wins, the Kellogg Wildcats's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They lost to Bonners Ferry on the road by a decisive 78-62 margin. Kellogg has struggled against Bonners Ferry recently, as their contest on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Kellogg still got an impressive performance from Emily Coe, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds. Coe continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Dani Schillereff was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, Kellogg were working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Bonners Ferry got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Asha Abubakari out in front who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 18 rebounds. Those 18 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Taren Bateman, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Kellogg's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Bonners Ferry, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Kellogg will head out on the road to face off against Moscow at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Idaho (Moscow is ranked 48th, while Kellogg is ranked 24th). Bonners Ferry will be home for the holidays to greet Orofino at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday.
