The Oak Forest Academy Yellowjackets will venture away from home to challenge the Bowling Green Buccaneers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oak Forest Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
On Friday, everything went Oak Forest Academy's way against Hancock as Oak Forest Academy made off with a 9-3 victory. That's two games straight that the Yellowjackets have won by exactly six runs.
Oak Forest Academy got a great performance from Tanner Mulkey as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over 5.2 innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Maison Bales was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Keegan Kelsey, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Bowling Green never let their opponents score on Monday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Christian Home Educators Fellowship. The victory was some much needed relief for the Buccaneers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
The team relied heavily on Holden Cutrer, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Caleb Williams was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases.
Bowling Green hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Christian Home Educators Fellowship struck out eight times.
Oak Forest Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. Bowling Green now has a winning record of 5-4.
Bowling Green's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Oak Forest Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .371. It's a different story for Bowling Green, though, as they've only averaged .250. Will they be able to contain Oak Forest Academy's hitters?
