After flying high against the KIPP Legacy Lions last Tuesday, the Indianapolis Washington Continentals came back down to earth. Indianapolis Washington had to suffer through a rough 62-26 loss at the hands of Christian Academy. Indianapolis Washington was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-13.
They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
A Cendoe and
Malaysha Flanagan, who each put up eight points.
Ta'Laya Peterson held things down on the boards with five rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Addison Jackson led the charge by scoring 19 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Jackson is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for four games straight. Alexus Bryant was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Indianapolis Washington has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Christian Academy, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
Indianapolis Washington won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Irvington Preparatory Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Irvington Preparatory Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last 16 games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Christian Academy, they will take on Lanesville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lanesville comes in on seven and Christian Academy on three.
