The Lancaster Red Devils can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 78-31 win over Northumberland. Given Lancaster's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while Northumberland is ranked 240th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Troy Henderson was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points and 4 assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Lancaster's points. Another player making a difference was Daveon Smith, who scored 13 points along with nine steals and five assists.
Northumberland's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malachi Howard, who scored nine points along with two steals. Marcus Crawley was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Lancaster and bumps their season record up to 12-2. As for Northumberland, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
Lancaster will be playing in front of their home fans against Northumberland at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Northumberland is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for they, they will challenge Lancaster at 1:30 p.m. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Henderson and Tyreek Lundy.
