Franklin County Tech hit Smith Vo-Tech with a 11-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings lost 12-2 to the Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Vikings have suffered against the Eagles since May 21, 2018.
Meanwhile, Westfield Technical Academy waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 22-3 margin over the Bulldogs. That looming 22-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Tigers yet this season.
Antonio Simpson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josh Elmer, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and four RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Zach Morgado, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Westfield Technical Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Smith Vo-Tech now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Westfield Technical Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
