 Fort Payne got their  victory on the backs of several key players, but it was  Dax Varnadore out in front who threw for 163 yards and two touchdowns.  Aidan Rains got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
 Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 17 points in total. All came courtesy of  Conner Hughes: he went 4-for-4 kicking field goals for 12 points, and 5-for-5  kicking extra points for an additional five.
 Meanwhile, Mortimer Jordan had to endure  a  five-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They took down Woodlawn 28-14  on Friday.
  Micah Gatson was a one-man wrecking crew for Mortimer Jordan as he rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. The dominant performance gave  Gatson a new career-high in  rushing yards.
 The  win  got Fort Payne back to even at 2-2. As for Mortimer Jordan, their  victory (their first of the  season) made their record 1-4.
 Fort Payne strolled past Mortimer Jordan in their previous meeting  back in November of 2023 by a score of  45-28. Will Fort Payne repeat their success,  or does  Mortimer Jordan have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
