Whitney is 1-7 against Oak Ridge since August of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit  on Friday. Oak Ridge found their leader in sophomore  Braxton Martinez, who picked up 184 receiving yards and one  TD, and also rushed for 37 yards. Martinez was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 68 yards.
 Special teams  played a big role in the game for Oak Ridge, adding 14 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of  Jasen Womack, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
 Oak Ridge pushed their record up to 5-3 with the  victory, which was their sixth straight  at home dating back to last season. The  home  wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.2 points on average over those games. As for Whitney, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
 Whitney was dealt a bruising  63-0 loss at the hands of Oak Ridge in their previous meeting  back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Wildcats,  Phoenix Hester (who threw for 132 yards and a pair of  touchdowns on perfect 7-for-7 passing, and also rushed for 49 yards and one  score) won't be suiting up this time.
