The Littlestown Thunderbolts will head out to take on the West York Area Bulldogs at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Littlestown will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
If Littlestown beats West York Area with 16 runs on Monday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Thunderbolts didn't even let York County Tech on the board on Wednesday, marking the Thunderbolts' second-straight 16-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Thunderbolts, who have now won five contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Maddy Dubbert looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Emma Peart was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Alexis Stonesifer was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Littlestown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .731. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, West York Area was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 5-2 win over Gettysburg. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 7, 2016, but that streak is no more.
Maddie McGlynn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up 14 Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Addison Skimski, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayleigh Becker, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Littlestown's record is now 6-3. As for West York Area, their victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-8.
West York Area's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Littlestown has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .525. It's a different story for West York Area, though, as they've only averaged .355. Will they be able to contain Littlestown's hitters?
Littlestown took their win against West York Area when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Thunderbolts since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
