The Conemaugh Township Indians will head out on the road to face off against the United Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Conemaugh Township's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so United's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Conemaugh Township's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They didn't even let Portage on the board, marking the Indians' second-straight 11-0 shutout. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by seven runs or more this season.
Brennan Lohr was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.
In other batting news, Kaden Valentine was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Gabrial Valentine was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Conemaugh Township always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.
United came out on top against Portage on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Lions skirted past the Mustangs 8-6. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Like Conemaugh Township, United also got a great game from a two-way player: Ryan Felix. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off ten hits. Felix was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Ethan Chilenski looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. United is 2-1 when Chilenski allows one or fewer hits, but 5-7 otherwise.
Felix wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Shaydon Oleksa, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Conemaugh Township has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for United, their record now sits at 7-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Conemaugh Township has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like United struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Conemaugh Township's way against United in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Conemaugh Township made off with a 10-3 victory. Do the Indians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
