After flying high against the LAMP Golden Tigers last Monday, the Booker T. Washington Golden Eagles came back down to earth. Booker T. Washington ended up on the wrong side of a rough 57-35 walloping at the hands of Smiths Station on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Booker T. Washington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while Smiths Station is ranked 78th).
Several Golden Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jessica Johnson, who scored eight points along with two steals. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Tylizea Sanders was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Smiths Station to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jatayah Bryant, who scored 23 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bryant has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jasmyn Thomas, who scored 15 points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Booker T. Washington has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for Smiths Station, their win bumped their record up to 14-4.
Booker T. Washington will be playing at home against Brewbaker Tech at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Brewbaker Tech focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Monday. Smiths Station does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
