Softball Recap: Jourdanton Find Success

After losing to Somerset the last time they met, Jourdanton decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Jourdanton Indians/Squaws came out on top against the Somerset Bulldogs by a score of 5-1 on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Indians/Squaws.

Jill Martinez spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in February of 2024.

At the plate, Jourdanton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bobbiejo Gonzales, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. Kayden Martinez also deserves some recognition as she stole her first stolen base of the season.

Jourdanton's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Somerset, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Looking ahead, Jourdanton will host Randolph at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup will give Jourdanton their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season. As for Somerset, they will head out to face off against La Vernia at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. La Vernia will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Somerset surely won't give up without a fight.
