The Jordan Falcons will venture away from home to face off against the East Chapel Hill Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Jordan took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Chapel Hill as Jordan made off with a 12-4 win. The victory continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won five in a row.
The team relied heavily on Kylie Specht, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Lucia Terruso also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Jordan lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since the start of last season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Chapel Hill). They blew past Northern Durham 22-13 on Wednesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
McKenna White looked comfortable as she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Lauren Steiner was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, six runs, and six RBI. Those six runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kay Silver, who scored two runs while going 6-for-6.
Jordan's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for East Chapel Hill, their record is now 2-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Jordan hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like East Chapel Hill struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Jordan's way against East Chapel Hill in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Jordan made off with a 9-1 victory. Will Jordan repeat their success, or does East Chapel Hill has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
