Basketball Recap: Clay Tharp Key Part of a Team Effort in Bulldogs Win

Monrovia posted their biggest win since February 10, 2024 on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 71-45 margin over Irvington Preparatory Academy.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Monrovia to victory, but perhaps none more so than Clay Tharp, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 16 boards. That's the most rebounds Tharp has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Mccloud, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten boards.

Monrovia was working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Monrovia has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Irvington Preparatory Academy, they dropped their record down to 7-12 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Monrovia will take on Greencastle at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Greencastle knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Monrovia likes a good challenge. As for Irvington Preparatory Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-44 loss against Indianapolis Washington on the 5th.
