The Aldine Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They lost to MacArthur on the road by a decisive 45-30 margin. Aldine lost against MacArthur in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 37-31 score last time.
Aldine lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Melanie Umanzor, who scored six points along with eight blocks and seven rebounds. Umanzor has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniyah Bevly, who scored 14 points.
Aldine has been struggling recently, as they've lost 14 of their last 15 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-19 record this season. As for MacArthur, their victory bumped their record up to 7-14.
Aldine will be playing at home against Dekaney at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Dekaney is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for MacArthur, they will face off against Nimitz at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Nimitz presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than MacArthur in Texas (Nimitz is ranked 175th, while MacArthur is ranked 912th).
