Gary West Side moved up to 146 from 176 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Northwestern. The Cougars climbed the ranks as a result of beating Hammond 58-18.
Gary West Side led the league in scoring this week by notching 58 points on the Wildcats. Ramone Atkins threw for 254 yards and 4 touchdowns and ran for 22 yards in the win.
Gary West Side's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Cougars feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Atkins has thrown for 1,311 yards and 21 touchdowns this season, while JonVea Johnson has 35 catches for 664 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Gary Roosevelt takes on Gary Wallace. The Panthers are currently in third, while the Hornets are in second.
Jason Johnson's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,244 from 7,849. The improvement was the result of 58-18 victory over Hammond last week.
