The Lamar Raiders had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Couldn't have asked for a better start to 2024 than the 61-23 blowout they got at home against East Rankin Academy. For Lamar, this counts as revenge for the 53-43 defeat East Rankin Academy walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Lamar found their leader in underclassman Jackson Whitcomb, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Zion Huggins was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds.
Lamar's victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for East Rankin Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Lamar will head out on the road to face off against Park Place Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for East Rankin Academy, they will be playing at home against Wayne Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
