Make it 11 blowout wins for the Resurrection Christian Cougars this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat University 89-37 on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-21.
Resurrection Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cade Crutcher out in front who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Crutcher continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Barker, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.
University's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Gage Schminke, who scored 15 points, and Coehn Nitzel who scored nine points. Schminke has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played.
The win makes it two in a row for Resurrection Christian and bumps their season record up to 14-2. As for University, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Resurrection Christian will take on the Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Platte Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday. As for University, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Berthoud is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
