The Standish-Sterling Panthers won the last time they faced the Michigan Lutheran Seminary Cardinals, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Standish-Sterling secured a 53-47 W over the Cardinals. Given Standish-Sterling's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while the Cardinals are ranked 431st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Logan Broekhuizen, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. Broekhuizen is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was William Salgat, who scored 17 points along with two steals and two blocks.
Standish-Sterling's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Michigan Lutheran Seminary, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season.
Standish-Sterling won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. As for Michigan Lutheran Seminary, they will head out on the road to challenge the Sharks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
