The Wilkes Central Eagles will head out on the road to  face off against  the East Wilkes Cardinals  at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday.
Wilkes Central's offense might be in the hot seat  on Friday considering what happened against Starmount  on Friday. They had to suffer through  a    51-0 loss at the hands of the Rams. The shutout was out of character for the Eagles seeing as the last time the team failed to score was  back in September.
Meanwhile, East Wilkes waltzed into their matchup  on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Buckin' Elks 66-7. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cardinals' considerable advantage  in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 150th, while the Buckin' Elks are ranked 371st).
East Wilkes' win came from a few key players Wilkes Central will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was  Holden Spicer, who rushed for 113 yards and one  TD. Those  113  rushing yards gave  him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Ayden Guessford, who rushed for 71 yards and a pair of  touchdowns.
 East Wilkes was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 483  rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their  rushing yard total in three consecutive  contests.
