Marshall is a perfect 6-0 against Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Lions will host the Titans at 4:30 p.m. Marshall is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Marshall took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Robinson 6-4.
Kyla Gustafson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avery Cornwell, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Karsyn Johnson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] got the win against Heritage on Monday by a conclusive 14-3. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Titans this season.
Like Marshall, Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] also got a great game from a two-way player: Shaylun Christenberry. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Christenberry was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kenzie Willison was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rylee Hill, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three RBI.
Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland]'s victory bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Marshall, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.
Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland]'s pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Marshall hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .399. It's a different story for Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland], though, as they've only averaged .207. Will they be able to contain Marshall's hitters?
