The North Star Cougars came tearing into Thursday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by Rockwood at home to the tune of 76-32. North Star might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four contests by 25 points or more this season.
Andy Retassie was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with eight assists and six steals. The contest was his third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brady Weimer, who scored 17 points.
North Star pushed their record up to 9-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Rockwood, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.
North Star won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Ligonier Valley at 7:15 p.m. on January 12th. Ligonier Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 615th, while North Star is ranked 226th). As for Rockwood, they will head out on the road to face off against Shanksville Stonycreek at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
