Baseball Recap: Georgetown Day's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Georgetown Day dropped their record down to 6-9 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell 9-5 to the Avalon Black Knights. The Mighty Hoppers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Black Knights from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Avalon, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games.

For Avalon's part, Evan Stepanik 1 looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Stepanik 1 is becoming a predictor of the Black Knights' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 3-11 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Javeth Carrion was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Judah Knight was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Georgetown Day will head out to square off against St. Andrew's Episcopal at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Mighty Hoppers are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Avalon, they will head out on the road to take on Landon at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
