Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 26 to 12 on the offensive boards, a fact the Creek Valley Storm proved on Monday. They walked away with a 49-36 win over Banner County. For Creek Valley, this counts as revenge for the 48-32 defeat Banner County walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Creek Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lane Brenneman, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Brenneman has scored at least a third of Creek Valley's points. Mason Timm was another key contributor, almost dropping a triple-double on nine points, 14 rebounds, and nine blocks.
Despite the defeat, Banner County had strong showings from Brendyn Onstott, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, and Isaac Olsen, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds. Onstott hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Jacob Parsons, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, Banner County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. This was only their tenth loss (out of 13 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Creek Valley's victory bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Banner County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-15.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing South Platte the next time they take the court. Banner County will head out to face South Platte at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Creek Valley will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
