North has been on the road for two straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Blackville-Hilda Fighting Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Blackville-Hilda took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on North, who comes in off a win.
Even though North has not done well against Wagener-Salley recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. North narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Wagener-Salley 38-35. That's two games straight that North has won by exactly three points.
North got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ken Mack out in front who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mack has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Angionna Hook, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and eight steals.
Blackville-Hilda lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Tuesday was a bit more commanding. They were dealt a 66-10 loss at the hands of Denmark-Olar. While losing is never fun, Blackville-Hilda can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Denmark-Olar is ranked 56th).
North's win bumped their record up to 6-15. As for Blackville-Hilda, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.
North couldn't quite finish off Blackville-Hilda when the teams last played back in January and fell 40-38. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Blackville-Hilda's Eva Sapp, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 12 steals. Now that North knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
