Brentwood and Summit are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Bruins will be playing in front of their home fans against the Spartans at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games Brentwood has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Brentwood is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Nolensville just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bruins have suffered since March 12, 2024.

Marina Mason was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over 11 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in 20 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her six plate appearances with one stolen base.
In other batting news, Lila Driver made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Summit never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Centennial. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Addison Johnson tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Anne Marie Richards, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Addyson Willingham, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Summit's victory bumped their record up to 20-14. As for Brentwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-5.
Summit's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Brentwood has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 13.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Summit, though, as they've been averaging only 2.8 strikeouts. Will Brentwood keep running through batters, or will the Spartans buck the trend?
Brentwood skirted past Summit 6-5 in their previous meeting back in April. Do the Bruins have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
