After flying high against the Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Knights back in December of 2023, the Grove Christian School Falcons came back down to earth. Grove Christian School was outmatched by Banner Christian on the road and fell 82-30. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Grove Christian School has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Grove Christian School had strong showings from Merrick Baron, who scored 11 points along with three steals, and Owen Collawn, who scored seven points along with six rebounds. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Harrison Hazelgrove, who scored seven points.
Grove Christian School's defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-6. As for Banner Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grove Christian School will take on Yeshiva of Virginia at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Banner Christian and Kenston Forest will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Kenston Forest is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
