Athens added to the longest winning streak in Tri-Valley - Ohio this week by beating Nelsonville-York, 56-20. The victory was the 10th in a row for the team.
Vinton County made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,480 from 9,870. The improvement was largely due to a 22-19 victory over Wellston last week.
Athens' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Joey Burrow threw for 236 and 4 touchdowns and Ryan Luehrman had 120 yards receiving. On the ground Trae Williams contributed 57 yards. Burrow helped Athens' passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 64 yards.
He went 12-14 with 0 interceptions.
Luehrman was the best receiver in the league this week as Ryan Adams' team topped the Buckeyes. Luehrman tallied 5 receptions for 120 yards. Burrow helped Athens' passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 64 yards.
Athens' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bulldogs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Burrow has thrown for 2,610 yards and 36 touchdowns this season, while Luehrman has 38 catches for 946 yards.
The Bulldogs' Luehrman needs only 54 receiving yards against Logan Elm to crack 1,000 for the season. He has recorded 38 catches for 946 yards this year.
Athens led the league in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on Nelsonville-York. Burrow ran for 59 yards in the win.
