Paul VI is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Our Lady of Good Counsel. The Panthers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Falcons a 12-0 shutout. Considering the Panthers have won seven games by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Thomas Jewett was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Ryan Vaxmonsky was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Paul VI always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Our Lady of Good Counsel only posted an OBP of .200.

Paul VI's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Our Lady of Good Counsel, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.

Looking ahead, Paul VI will challenge DeMatha at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Stags' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Our Lady of Good Counsel, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. John's at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cadets will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Falcons surely won't give up without a fight.
