The Ballinger Bearcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wall Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ballinger comes in on a streak of failing to score more than points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Ballinger fell victim to Early's stalwart defense two Fridays ago and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 35-0 loss at the hands of the Longhorns.
Even if they lost, Ballinger's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was Nick Martinez and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Wall got themselves on the board against Grape Creek on Friday, but Grape Creek never followed suit. They really took it to the Eagles for the full four quarters, racking up a 67-0 victory on the road. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Wall's seven-point performance the game before.
Among those leading the charge was Nathan Pepper, who rushed for 91 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Hagyn Barbee, who rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown.
Ballinger's defeat was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-0 Clyde and 5-0 Stamford (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 71.1% over those games). As for Wall, their victory on Friday bumped their record up to 4-2.
Ballinger was dealt a bruising 36-0 defeat at the hands of Wall when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Will Ballinger have more luck at home instead of on the road?
