Volcano Vista and Eldorado played the most hotly contested game in 5A District 1 this week, with Volcano Vista eventually emerging with a 39-34 victory. Reid Hendricks threw for 330 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 18 yards in the win.
Cleveland took down Hobbs 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Rio Rancho and the Hawks. The Rams enters the contest ranked fourth in the state, while Volcano Vista ranks 12th.
Rio Rancho's Easton Bruere is within 12 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against Chad Wallin's team. So far this year, Bruere has thrown for 1988 yards with 22 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
There should be lots of points scored when David Howes' team and the Hawks face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Rams comes in having scored 297 this season, while Volcano Vista has scored 246.
The Storm led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on the Eagles.
