The Tippecanoe Valley Vikings will be playing at home against the West Lafayette Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Tippecanoe Valley posted their biggest win yet this season two weeks ago. They breezed by Knox at home to the tune of 61-15. The win was just what Tippecanoe Valley needed coming off of a 67-42 defeat in their prior contest.
Ava Egolf was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with six rebounds and four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gaby Gonzalez, who scored nine points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, West Lafayette scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 72-36 win over Lafayette Jefferson. Given West Lafayette's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while Lafayette Jefferson is ranked 310th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
West Lafayette had a senior duo take command as Sarah Werth scored 22 points along with three steals and Adrianne Tolen scored 20 points along with five steals. Tolen hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Molly Andrew, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Tippecanoe Valley pushed their record up to 14-3 with that win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24.19 points. As for West Lafayette, their victory bumped their record up to 12-8.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Tippecanoe Valley and West Lafayette are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Tippecanoe Valley hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 51.6 points per game. It's a different story for West Lafayette, though, as they've been averaging only 54.8 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
