The Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs can finally bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They snuck past Briggsdale with a 57-53 victory. The win was just what Haxtun needed coming off of a 68-38 defeat in their prior contest.
When it comes to explaining why Briggsdale lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tanner Fiscus. Despite the final result, he scored 37 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. That was a full 69.8% of Briggsdale's points, marking the 13th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kaeden Gebauer, who scored seven points.
Haxtun's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-11. As for Briggsdale, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
Haxtun will head out on the road to face off against the Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wray presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Fightin' Bulldogs in Colorado (the Eagles are ranked 91st, while the Fightin' Bulldogs are ranked 243rd). As for Briggsdale, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Peetz is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
