The Green Valley Gators's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Sierra Vista 41-35. Green Valley has struggled against Sierra Vista recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Green Valley's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Gianessa Vazquez, who scored 15 points, and Jazmine Ramirez who scored 11 points along with three steals. Olivia Patai was another key contributor, scoring two points along with two steals and two blocks.
Green Valley bumped their record down to 5-17 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Sierra Vista, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Green Valley will face off against Western at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Western has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. Sierra Vista won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Doral Academy Red Rock at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th. Doral Academy Red Rock comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 15 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
