The Lake Hornets will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Clarkdale Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Lake is ranked 211th, while Clarkdale is ranked 213th).
Lake suffered their biggest defeat since December 19, 2023 on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 70-49 loss at the hands of Bay Springs. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lake in their matchups with Bay Springs: they've now lost eight in a row.
Even though Clarkdale has not done well against Scott Central recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Clarkdale pulled ahead with a 56-55 photo finish over Scott Central. The win was a breath of fresh air for Clarkdale as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Clarkdale's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cade Culpepper led the charge by scoring 20 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Ladonya Adams, who scored 15 points along with five steals.
Lake dropped their record down to 7-14 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. Clarkdale's record is now 10-11.
Lake ended up a good deal behind Clarkdale in their previous meeting on January 2nd, losing 62-47. Can Lake avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
