The Basis Yeti were the 78-67 winner over the Rock Point Cougars when they last played one another back in November, but their luck changed this time around. Basis took a serious blow against Rock Point on Saturday, falling 64-34. Basis has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.
Despite the defeat, Basis saw an underclassman step up: Alexei Barrow scored 11 points along with three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Rowdy McGourin, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Basis' defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Rock Point, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Basis will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Ash Fork at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Rock Point will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Fredonia at 4:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Fredonia is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
