After flying high against the Greater Cabarrus S Stallions last Thursday, the Christ the King Crusaders came back down to earth. Christ the King fell 48-36 to Lincoln Charter on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Christ the King in their matchups with Lincoln Charter: they've now lost seven in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Christ the King lost, one person who can't be blamed is Claire Broda. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Audrey Gorman, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Leading Lincoln Charter to victory were Kallie Lusk and Symphani Stevens. Lusk scored 19 points along with three steals, while Stevens scored 20 points along with seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stevens has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Ayers, who scored four points along with four steals.
Christ the King's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Lincoln Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Christ the King will take on Langtree Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Christ the King is facing Langtree Charter at the right time seeing as Langtree Charter is stuck on a 18-game losing streak. As for Lincoln Charter, they will head out on the road to challenge Bradford Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for Bradford Prep: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Lincoln Charter has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road.
