Baldwyn is 5-0 against Wheeler since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Baldwyn Bearcats will head out on the road to face off against the Wheeler Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Wheeler took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Baldwyn, who comes in off a win.
Baldwyn had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 51-42 victory over Falkner on Monday.
Meanwhile, Wheeler came up short against New Site on Tuesday and fell 61-48.
Wheeler's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Emma Kate Beckham, who scored 17 points, and Alayna Partlow who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 14 rebounds. Beckham is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now stole two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Rebekah Mason, who scored 7 points along with 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Wheeler were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Site only pulled down eight.
Baldwyn's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Wheeler, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
Baldwyn skirted past Wheeler 44-41 when the teams last played back in January of 2022. Will Baldwyn repeat their success, or does Wheeler have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
