Sadly, the Bryan Bears are still looking for their first win of the season after 16 matches. They were dealt a 60-4 defeat at the hands of Benson on Saturday. Bryan has not had much luck with Benson recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Bryan struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Benson pulled down 14 offensive rebounds.
Lelani Carter was a one-man wrecking crew for Benson as she almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine steals. Carter continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Najya O'Neal, who scored nine points.
Bryan dropped their record down to 0-16 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Benson, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bryan will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Westview at 5:15 p.m. on February 9th. Bryan comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 11 points in their last 16 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Benson, they will head out on the road to face off against Papillion-LaVista at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Papillion-LaVista will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Benson surely won't give up without a fight.
