The Cole Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 58-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Steele. The game was a 24-24 toss-up at halftime, but Cole was outscored by Steele in the second.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Logan Beckstrom, who scored 20 points along with 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of James Livingston, who scored 19 points.
Cole's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Steele, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 12-2.
Cole will be playing in front of their home fans against Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Cole likes a good challenge. As for Steele, they will head out on the road to face off against Canyon at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Canyon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1198th, while Steele is ranked 36th).
