Cienega and the Nighthawks are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2016, but not for long. The Cienega Bobcats will be playing at home against the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Cienega will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Last Friday, in a tight match that could have gone either way, Cienega made off with a 46-45 win over the Colts.
Cienega's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mia Kelley, who scored 13 points along with five assists and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth Puente, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Ironwood Ridge came up short against the Falcons on Wednesday and fell 49-40. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ironwood Ridge in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now lost four in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Myla Elslager, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and six steals. Another player making a difference was Jaidyn Saucedo, who scored 13 points along with seven steals.
Cienega now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Ironwood Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-11.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Cienega have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Ironwood Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Cienega took a serious blow against the Nighthawks in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 55-26. Will Cienega have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
