The Putnam County War Eagles suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 83-52 loss at the hands of Butler. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Putnam County has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Putnam County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Landon Bonner. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zay Hargrove, who scored six points.
Butler found their leader in underclassman Kwamane Bridges, who went 8 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bridges has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jayden Bell, who scored ten points along with six assists and five rebounds.
Putnam County's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Butler, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Putnam County will square off against Westside at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Westside's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches. Butler will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Washington County at 8:30 p.m. on January 26th. Washington County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 229th, while Butler is ranked 45th).
